Masthead

Raconteur launched in 2019 on a simple premise: the internet is an excellent place to read a novel one chapter at a time, and a mostly terrible place to read one all at once. We publish serialized fiction on a fixed cadence, alongside essays on the craft, history, and mechanics of reading itself.

We do not run advertising against the fiction. Membership and reader support fund the editorial budget directly, and every serial on the site runs to a schedule its author committed to before the first chapter went up — we would rather publish a shorter, finished serial than an open-ended one that quietly stops updating.

Submissions are read by the editorial team directly, without an agent required. See the submissions page for what we’re currently looking for.
